Reading:
Luke 2:1-7
“There was no room for them
in the inn” Luke 2:7
This statement
could well be the headline in one of today’s newspapers. It seems that our
country and indeed the world has no room for Jesus,
the Son of God. There is no room for Him in our schools, court rooms, streets
and, in most people their hearts. This
was not only true at His birth but also during His ministry,
“Foxes have holes and birds of the air
have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head" Luke 9:58.
Throughout His life there was no room for Him, He owned
nothing, and borrowed everything.
They borrowed a bed to lay His head
When Christ the Lord came down;
They borrowed the ass for the mountain pass
On which He rode to town;
But the crown that He wore and the cross that He bore
Were His own—That cross was His
own.
They borrowed the bread when the crowd He fed
On the stony mountain side;
And they borrowed the dish of broken fish
With which He satisfied:
But the crown that He wore and the cross that He bore
Were His own—That cross was His
own.
They borrowed the ship for Him to sit
When He taught the multitude;
They borrowed a nest for Him to rest,
He had had never a home so crude:
But the crown that He wore and the cross that He bore
Were His own—That cross was His
own.
They borrowed a room on the way to the tomb,
The Passover meal to eat;
They borrowed a grave, for Him a grave,
They borrowed the winding sheet.
But the crown that He wore and the cross that He bore
Were His own—That cross was His
own.

We have been

We are His

all things are yours: whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life
or death, or things present or things to come -- all are yours. And you are
Christ's, and Christ is God's” 1 Corinthians 3:21-23
