MEDITATIONS FROM ISAIAH

December 7, 2005

Reading: Isaiah 50:7-9

“He is near who justifies me” Isaiah 50:8.

My soul, have you ever considered your justification in the light of this marvelous truth? Justification, the removal of all guilt in the eyes of God, the foundation of your continued salvation, is magnificent any way it is considered.

God, your Heavenly Father, is the source and fountain of it. Paul, with excitement, writes “It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns?“

It is Jesus who justifies all his redeemed, by his blood and righteousness, for he “was delivered up because of our offences, and was raised because of our justification.“

It is the Holy Spirit who applies to every believer all the benefits God intends for His children. The full Godhead, Father, Son and Holy Spirit—the Source, Provider, and Applicator, is engaged in your justification.

As wonderful as this is, even more beneficial is the reality that He, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, is near each one who stands justified before God.

“The charter of grace, and thy pardon written down in it in letters of blood, even the blood of Christ, is always near and at hand. Here it stands on eternal record, “that God is just and the justifier of him that believeth in Jesus.” And he is near that justifieth, both as thine advocate to plead, that if any doubts should arise in thy poor timid mind concerning it, Jesus might open the volume of record, and there, by his Holy Spirit, show it unto thee; and also, by the same almighty power, incline thy heart to the perfect belief of it, to thy joy and peace in believing” Robert Hawker.

When the devil accuses you, and you become fearful, allowing doubts to creep in, do not look anywhere else for comfort and assurance of your Divine pardon than to Jesus. See Him always as your Justifier—all sufficient, ever capable, ever near, and unfailing in His work and ministry on your behalf.

Lord:

Who, by Your word the heavens and earth were made –

Speak to me.

Who, by Your voice brought the raging storm to calm –

Talk with me.

Who, by Your command brought the dead back to life –

Fellowship with me.

Master:

Who, by the touch of Your finger brought sight to the blind –

Touch my heart.

Who, by the grasp of Your hand saved the weak from drowning –

Preserve my soul.

Who, by Your outstretched arms brought redemption to man –

Comfort my spirit.

God:

Who, by Your mercy and grace made me one with You –

Give me peace.

Who, by Your love and compassion bore my sins –

Give me rest.

Who, by Your unwavering faithfulness will love me for ever –

Forgive my doubt.
