MEDITATIONS FROM ISAIAH

November 30, 2005

Reading: Isaiah 65:13-20

“No more shall an infant from there live but a few days, nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days; for the child shall die one hundred years old, but the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed” Isa 65:20.

My soul, if you find yourself discouraged because of the death of a loved one or that of a friend, take comfort if they died in Christ. Listen anew to the glorious benefits the gospel has brought into this world: Not only shall there be new heavens and a new earth, but new hearts, new minds, and new temperaments to enjoy them. “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away, and all things are become new.”

Among the many changes brought to us by the gospel of Jesus Christ is that all untimely deaths are done away with. There is no such event to those who are in Christ for the death of every believer is ordered by the Lord. A voice from heaven pronounces, “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.”

A new born child is as ready for glory as if he were one-hundred years old. He is one-hundred years old in Jesus! Is this not one of the mighty and wonderful blessings introduced to us by the precious gospel of Jesus Christ? The death of all who die in Christ is ordered by Him and is precious in His sight. None of God’s redeemed die outside of His divine calendar. Our days are glorious because they are given us by the Lord, and our death is precious because it is ordered by Him. Do not let the devil rob you of the preciousness in the death of God’s chosen ones.

Alas, the truth still exists that those who leave this world apart from Christ, no matter he or she live one-hundred years, will face the judgment of God and spends eternity accursed from Him.

How wonderful is the convicting and saving work of the Holy Spirit.

Welcome home, my child,

Welcome to my side;

This is a special day,

With Me you’ll now abide.
