MEDITATIONS FROM THE PSALMS

Reading: Psalm 119:161-168

I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great treasure” Ps 119:162

Heavenly Father, this morning I want to thank You for Your Word, for within it You reveal Yourself to me. It has most certainly become to me a treasure trove of wisdom, revelation, comfort and strength. The treasure it contains far exceeds that of precious stones dug from the earth.

The treasure that is Your Word is valuable to me, not only during my life here on earth, but it prepares me for eternity. The truths it contains will not end when I die, but will continue in my existence for ever, because You never change, therefore neither does Your Word. When I am distraught I turn to Your Word and find comfort. When I am battered by Satan I receive strength and invigorated. Your Word teaches me how to worship You, to pray, to rest, and enjoy You. It shows me how to enjoy this life and offers me glimpses of that which awaits me in the next.

Your Word is indeed a chest of heavenly treasure the value of which will never diminish and the truths thereof will never change because “the word of the Lord endures for ever.”

When I open Your Word I do so with great anticipation because I know You will excite me with some knew treasure about Yourself and Your love for me. In Your amazing grace never let me lose my love for and anticipation in Your Word.
