Reading: Luke 2:41-50

“Did you not know that I must be about My Father's business?” Luke 2:49

It is springtime and the countryside is full of the new life that always blossoms at this time of the year. My soul, this has always been the favorite time of the year for you as you enjoy everything from new buds on the trees to calves and lambs in the fields. New life, for the most part, precedes a lifetime of fulfillment that its Creator planned for it. From the smallest seed grows gorgeous flowers and giant trees while the tiny, helpless colt may one day mature to win the Kentucky Derby. Every seed, whether plant or animal, if allowed to mature, will play its part in the overall purpose of God.

It is none the less for men and women who begin their life journey as a tiny embryo in their mother’s womb. God has a purpose for that life especially if that person becomes a member of the body of Christ through salvation. Jesus, about to enter His teenage years, was not different from many other 12 year olds who evidenced an interest in that which would consume their lives later on. As the temple teachers expounded the scriptures Jesus not only listened but asked questions of them that amazed them. This Seed was maturing at an early age for He was predestinated to become Israel’s Teacher by age thirty. He Himself would astound His teachers as they sought to trick Him with their questions and thereby find cause to discredit Him. His wisdom and understanding did not come from listening to the false teachers of Israel but from His Heavenly Father (John 8:28) –you also, as His disciple, are taught by the Holy Spirit (John 14:26). God Himself is your Teacher who sometimes uses the scriptures, godly teachers and books, but the Great Applicator of God’s wisdom, knowledge and understanding is God Himself, the Holy Spirit.

“I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things” John 8:28-29.

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” John 14:26-27.

“Make Your face shine upon Your servant, and teach me Your statutes” Ps 119:135.

“Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness” Ps 143:10.

"What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing"
