MEDITATIONS FROM THE PSALMS

MEDITATIONS FROM JOHNS’ EPISTLES

April 11, 2007

Reading: 1 John 1:1-5

"This is the message” 1 John 1:5

This is the message. God has spoken. There is no room for debate and argument. Nothing must be added to it and nothing taken from it.

“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they” Hebrews 1:1-4.

God’s final word to the ignorance of this world is Jesus Christ, the Savior. God’s final word to the darkness of this world is Jesus, the Light of the World. God’s final word to death is Jesus, the Life. God’s final word to the weakness of this world is Jesus, the Power of God.

“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” John 1:14

The Word of God lived among us and went to Calvary and died. He went to hell bearing our sins. His body was laid in a tomb which was sealed with a rock. He rose three days later and lives for ever more and has the keys of Hades and death. He ascended into heaven and is praying for all of children. Before you awoke this morning Jesus had presented your name before Throne of His Father.

This is the message. Jesus Christ is the Message, not Jesus plus something, not Jesus minus anything, not Jesus plus doctrine, not Jesus plus confessions, not Jesus plus Holy Days or any of the concoctions man has added to it. It is Jesus alone. Jesus who is the same yesterday, today and forever. Jesus is the same therefore so is the Message.

Ever since the day the church was born men and women have been saved by the same gospel, unchanged, immutable, and incorruptible.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes” Romans 1:16.

“Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever” 1 Peter 1:23.

"What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing"
