MEDITATIONS
FROM THE PSALMS

Reading: Psalm 102
“You are the same” Ps 102:27
Take note, my soul, of everything
around you—material things, circumstances, spiritual things, things past and
present, do they not all have one thing in common?—they change. Some things are
predictable in their changes but many changes take us by surprise. How
wonderful to have the assurance from God Himself that He is immutable—He is
changeless! His promises do not change; His character does not change, and His
Word does not change—even though some modern translations try to tell us
otherwise). “I am the LORD, I do not
change” Mal 3:6.
“Jesus Christ is the same
yesterday, today, and forever” Heb 13:8. Soul, you can count on it. Ezekiel saw
your Savior high and lifted up, surrounded by brightness and fire—Ezek 1:26-2.2. Peter, James and John were granted a similar
privilege as Jesus was transformed before them—Matt 17:1-8, and John again saw
Him after His ascension into heaven—Rev 1:12-18. He was, is, and always will be
all-glorious in His majesty and glory. What an honor to know Him.
Look also, my soul, at the effect
this sight had on those who beheld Him—they all fell on their face before Him.
Consider your response as you seek His face.
The cry of your heart has been for a long time, “Lord, manifest Yourself to me. Show me Your glory
as much as it is possible for any human to behold.”
Consider your Savior’s response:
Ezekiel, “stand on your feet, and I will speak to you;” Peter, James and John,
“Arise, and do not be afraid; John, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the
Last.” My soul, do not consider that your permanent position before Christ is
on your face, but hear His words to you, “Arise, let us go from here” John
14:31. I have work for you to do. “You shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem,
and in all Judea and Samaria,
and to the end of the earth."
Dear
Lord, with whom there is neither change nor variableness; teach me how to
worship You. I bow before You,
my Sovereign King. I hear Your voice calling me to
serve You. Teach me to be obedient to You, for You
have promised to manifest Yourself to those who are obedient. Grant me joy in
serving You as I look forward to that Day when time
will not limit my worship.
“He
who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who
loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My
Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." John 14:21.
